Fedora shows some love to Africa
April 15, 2010 | In: Fedora
At last Africa seems to be building on the momentum of Open Source expansion within the Fedora community. These days under the guidance of Sascha Thomas Spreitzer, we are working on expanding the reach of Fedora within the African community. What does this imply? Well first of all we will be empowering local ambassadors with the resources needed to build communities and recruit contributors who can help the project grow. For Mauritius it means that we will be getting media directly (budget has already been voted) from the Fedora Project that can be distributed to people with bandwidth constraints, organize release parties and take Fedora to another level within our local community. I am really excited with the recent developments as I have envied the other regions for a while, looking at the way the communities have been built. Watch this space as this is just the tip of the iceberg.
